Out-of-Home Respite (OHR) is a service that provides parents / caregivers of children with special needs with relief time, outside the family home.

OHR is provided in a variety of settings, depending on family needs and preferences.

Who can take part in the program?

Any parent in the Sudbury-Manitoulin District with a child who is 3 to 18 years of age, living at home, and who has a developmental or physical disability, or multiple special needs, and is eligible for OHR services.

What does the program offer?

Child Care Resources offers families Activity days that parents can use for outings or camp support, while supporting integration into the community.  The Activity days are flexible to each family's unique needs, and provide trained staff to work with each child.

Child Care Resources also offers to those eligible Centre Base Respite out of the family home. Centre base respite is overnight periods in a Residentail facility provided by trained staff.
