What is the Autism Spectrum Disorder School Support Program?
Child Care Resources' Autism Spectrum Disorder School Support Program (ASDSSP) assists educators and other school staff in their work to meet the needs of children and youth within the autism spectrum, and support their inclusion in the school environment. ASDSSP is provided throughout Northern Ontario in the districts of Sudbury - Manitoulin, Algoma, Thunder Bay and Kenora / Rainy River.
Who can take part in the program?
All publicly funded school boards and district school authorities in the Sudbury - Manitoulin, Algoma, Thunder Bay and Kenora / Rainy River Districts can access the services of the ASDSSP.
What does the program offer?
Based on the principles of applied behavioural analysis, a professional team of Child Care Resources consultants provides:
- training sessions – large or small
- individual staff consultations
- school team consultations
- review of environmental supports and structures
- classroom consultations and strategies
- transitioning strategies
- resources
- information to staff about community services and supports
