Maxine King
A member of Child Care Resources Board since 2007, Maxine has experienced many years of involvement in children’s services; in direct service delivery as well as working with non-profit Boards. Maxine is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and holds a Master’s degree in Leadership and Training; she currently works as a Curriculum Designer in the Planning and Research Department at Cambrian College.
Melanie Johncox
Melanie has been a member of the Child Care Resources Board of Directors since 2006 where she has contributed to many committees and is currently in the position of Vice-Chair. Melanie is a francophone parent and teacher.
Rebecca Ingham
Rebecca is a proud parent of a son with autism. Autism has a profound effect on her view in life. She believes she is a much better person because of her relationship with the autism community. She works as a Registered nurse in Sudbury. She was a member and Chair of several volunteer boards in the past, and is currently a member of Autism Ontario.
Jocelyne Kingsley-Gascon
Jocelyne graduated from Cambrian College in Education des Petits 22 yrs ago and has been employed: Chef de Garderie du Centre éducatif Étoile du Nord de Collège Boréal for the last 4 yrs. Jocelyne has always worked with small children and as a native Sudbarian, is active within the Sudbury child care community.
Heather McFarlane
Heather McFarlane, BA(Hons), BSc.(OT) has worked as a pediatric Occupational Therapist in Canada and in the United States. She currently volunteers for several educational and advocacy organizations, including: Autism Ontario, and the Special Education Advisory Committee of the Rainbow District School Board. She works part time as administrator for a private medicine professional corporation, and is involved in continuing education at Laurentian University. Heather lives in Sudbury with her husband and four children; her 11 year old son Matthew has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Rick Grylls
Rick Grylls is an active member of the Autism Ontario Sudbury and District Chapter to support education and social change for his grand daughter.
Rick is retired with forty years in the mining industry, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Mine Mill retirees chapter and sits on the Board of Governors of Cambrian College.
Susan Belli
Susan is an intermediate teacher in Sudbury. She has taught children of all ages and of all abilities for over ten years. She has grown up in Sudbury and, over the years, has volunteered with many community organizations and agencies. She has earned an Hons. BA, B.ED and a Masters of Education.
Michelle Zerwer - Vice Chair
Michelle teaches psychology related courses at Cambrian College. Previously she worked in the non-profit sector advocating for children and families involved within the justice system. Michelle has extensive knowledge in program evaluation and evidence-based practices. She holds a B.Sc.in Exceptionality in Human Learning and a M.A. in Psychology.
Shelley Westhaver - Chair
Shelley is a new member of the CCR board. She completed her Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing and subsequently her Masters of Science in Nursing Laurentian University. In 2008 Shelley also completed the OTC Health Services and Policy Research Certificate Program.
She has worked as a nurse since 1985 initially in the hospital setting and then with Sudbury & District Health Unit. Shelley has held several positions at the health unit; public health nurse, program manager and currently is the Director of the Clinical Services Division. Her program responsibilities include the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program which provides nursing and lay home visitor support for pregnant women and families with children up to age six.
In 2006, Shelley held a contract position with Laurentian University as a professor with the School of Nursing. She was responsible for the teaching and grading an on-line Community Health Nursing course to Post RN students across Ontario.
Shelley has extensive experience in the area of policy development as well as extensive knowledge and experience in program evaluation and evidence-informed practice.
Leslie Dean
Leslie is a new member of the CCR board and past chair of the Ontario Early Years North Centre Board. With her Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree and Certified Human Resources Professional Designation, she provides Personal and Corporate Coaching, as well as Transition and Human Resources Consulting services to employers in northern Ontario.
Lee Rysdale
Lee is a registered dietitian with 25 years of experience in clinical and public health settings including the Sudbury Regional Hospital, and the Family Health and Healthy Babies Healthy Children Programs at the Sudbury & District Health Unit. She received her undergraduate degree in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph; post graduate training at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital; and a Master of Education degree from Nipissing University. Since May 2007 Lee has been the NutriSTEP® Program Coordinator with the Nutrition Resource Centre of the Ontario Public Health Association. In addition, she is involved in the regional training and professional development of dietetic interns and dietitians with the Northern Ontario Dietetic Internship Program, and faculty with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
Michael Gauthier
Michael is a lawyer in practice in Sudbury, practicing in the areas of personal injury law, representing clients and their families, many of whom have sustained life-altering injuries. He also practices corporate law, representing large to small businesses on matters such as the purchase and sale of companies, corporate re-organizations, employment matters and various other aspects of business law.
Michael is the proud father of a child with autism, now enrolled in the school-system. He has been actively engaged in continued education regarding autism, and is currently also involved with Autism Ontario.
